My Contribution: Concept, Design, Motion Design

Project Brief: Conceptualize, design, and animate an original title sequence based on a book of your choice. Develop a compelling visual narrative that introduces the audience to the tone, theme, and mood of the story, while exploring the relationship between typography and imagery within a cinematic context.

Solutions + Lessons Learned: In directing this piece, I wanted to introduce the story’s overarching theme of mass media communications as a method of control, while resolving with a reference to morse code, the mode of communication the main characters use in secret to overcome the conflict. This was ultimately achieved through the use of photographic visuals, paired with commanding typefaces, muted colors, and a song with strong thematic relevance.

My Favorite Part: I enjoyed practicing visual transitions with this piece. I think the photographic elements paired with camera movement across all 3 dimensions made this piece flow very smoothly!
