Project Brief: For my MA Final Project, I plan to create a full brand, motion system, and brand storytelling campaign for the app I am building with AI tools. For this first video draft of this first video, I wanted to create a short animated spot for social media visualizing the metaphysical link between sound frequencies and emotional frequencies through cymatics.

Solutions + Lessons Learned: I created the chladni plate/cymatics effect by playing! I started with a rectangular shape layer, and added the Wave World effect, which gave it a circular water ripple effect. As I wanted the cymatics shapes to be more angular, I dropped the resolution down to 1/3rd, which pixelated it enough to create the square pattern!

My favorite part: I loved researching cymatics and dialing in the pattern through trial and error in After Effects. I also really enjoyed the sound design on this. I usually don’t enjoy recording my own voice, but it came out with perfect tone for this project!
